A quick transparency post about an exciting development for Alena:
As of mid-2026 Alena joined a marketing company focused on tabletop games for her awesome job at Vala Marketing. This is separate from our existing passion project at Sushiball Games.
There are a couple steps we are taking to avoid conflict of interest for our blog:
- If a company we are reviewing for is also someone Vala is doing a campaign for, Patricio will write the review to avoid any unintended bias and the post will have a disclaimer.
- Alena will also never initiate offers of marketing services to the companies who we work with on reviews.
All this means is that Alena gets to do tabletop related stuff for her job and for fun. Well, it’s all fun really. We try to avoid bias as much as (humanly) possible. Our review style isn’t really “you should buy this!!!” It’s more: “this is what the game is like for us and how often we are probably going to play”. We hope that always shines through.
Nothing at Sushiball Games is changing and we have some fun posts planned for the games we are reviewing! Feel free to contact us with any questions. In the spirit of transparency, we just wanted to let everyone know since both our hobby and Alena’s work are now in the tabletop industry.
